Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based care to critically ill neonates in a Level 4 NICU
• Manage complex cases including premature infants, cardiac defects, genetic disorders, and surgical neonates
• Perform advanced skills like Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes with strict sterile technique
• Collaborate with neonatologists, midlevels, and a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Act as a patient advocate and educate families on care plans and discharge needs
• Monitor vital signs, administer medications, and operate advanced equipment like ventilators and Philips telemetry
• Float to Mother Baby and Labor & Delivery to care for neonates as needed

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Level 4 NICU experience (busy Level 3 accepted with strong skills)
• Previous travel experience highly preferred
• Current BLS and NRP certifications required
• Cardiac STABLE certification strongly preferred
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR required
• Ability to pass SIMs Lab on Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes (sterile field competency)

Education

• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN) required
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong understanding of neonatal pathophysiology and critical care
• Expertise in sterile technique and infection control
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Adaptability to fast-paced, high-acuity environments
• Time management and prioritization skills for 1:2 ICU or 1:3 Level 2 ratios
