Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide specialized nursing care to critically ill neonates in a Level 4 NICU with 71 beds, including 17 stepdown beds
• Manage high-acuity patients requiring cardiac monitoring, ventilation, ECMO, and cooling therapy
• Collaborate with neonatologists and midlevels who are in-house 24/7
• Perform central line dressing changes and Foley catheter insertions with sterile technique (SIMs lab pass/fail required)
• Float to Mother Baby and Labor Care for baby-only assignments as needed
• Serve as a charge nurse or high-risk RN resource when assigned, with no patient load

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of Level 4 NICU experience required
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Must live outside a 50-mile radius from Phoenix (driver license is source of truth)
• Ability to pass SIMs lab for Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes on day 1
• Strong understanding of sterile field and infection control

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficiency in Cerner EMR
• Expertise in neonatal assessment, ventilator management, and cardiac monitoring (Phillips telemetry)
• Knowledge of neonatal resuscitation (BLS, NRP required)
• Experience with Level 4 NICU diagnoses: premature infants, cardiac defects, genetic disorders, surgical cases, ECMO, and cooling
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment
