Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the physical therapist in implementing patient treatment plans with professionalism and compassion
• Deliver therapeutic exercises, manual techniques, and gait training to help patients regain function
• Document patient progress and communicate changes to the supervising PT and interdisciplinary team
• Educate patients and families on home exercise programs and safe mobility techniques
• Ensure therapy equipment is maintained, clean, and ready for safe patient use
• Adapt treatments to meet individual patient needs while following facility policies and protocols
• Support smooth handoffs and coverage as a travel clinician, helping maintain continuity of care at Powerback

Qualifications

• Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) in good standing — or eligible for state licensure
• Current BLS/CPR certification (required prior to patient contact)
• Experience working in outpatient, inpatient rehabilitation, or similar physical therapy settings preferred
• Strong patient communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team
• Ability to travel and adapt to facility-specific systems and workflows for the 14-week assignment

Education

• Associate Degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program (or equivalent)

Knowledge & Skills

• Solid knowledge of therapeutic exercise, modalities, and functional mobility training
• Proficient patient documentation and charting skills (EMR familiarity is a plus)
• Skilled in safe patient handling, transfers, and fall prevention strategies
• Excellent verbal and written communication with patients, families, and care teams
• Ability to prioritize caseloads and manage time effectively during a busy day
