Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide excellent progressive care nursing to adult and geriatric patients on the PCU/Stepdown unit
• Continuously monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms and respond to dysrhythmias promptly
• Activate and work with Rapid Response and Code teams when patient condition requires escalation
• Administer medications and manage IV/Peripheral lines following unit policies and safety checks
• Document patient care accurately and efficiently in Epic to ensure continuity and clear communication
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including respiratory, pharmacy, PT, and social services to coordinate care
• Use SBAR communication to hand off patients clearly and promote safe transitions of care

Qualifications

• Current Ohio RN license (required)
• BLS and ACLS certifications (required)
• Minimum 2 years of recent RN experience
• Progressive care / Stepdown / PCU experience preferred
• Comfort with Epic documentation and medication systems (Pyxis, Accudose, Omnicell)
• Willingness to float within the OSU organization as needed
• Flu vaccine required per facility guideline (medical exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required
• First-time travelers accepted — travel experience is not required

Knowledge & Skills

• Cardiac monitoring and interpretation of dysrhythmias
• Management of dysrhythmias and emergency response
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, and peripheral line care
• Oxygen administration and use of nasal cannula
• Use of Rapid Response/Code teams
• SBAR communication and strong interdisciplinary collaboration
• Epic documentation proficiency and familiarity with medication dispensing systems
