Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality PCU/stepdown nursing care for adult and geriatric patients, maintaining the expected 1:3 patient ratio
• Monitor telemetry continuously and interpret dysrhythmias to guide timely interventions
• Initiate IV therapy and perform IV starts with accurate documentation in EPIC
• Care for central and peripheral lines and collaborate with IV teams when needed
• Manage cardiac drips and follow heparin and IV insulin protocols (no titration of pressors at this level)
• Support respiratory needs including High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC) and heated high-flow oxygen
• Respond to emergencies and activate rapid response/transfer to ICU when appropriate
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary partners including respiratory therapy, pharmacy, PT, radiology, and social work

Qualifications

• 2 years of PCU/stepdown experience required
• BLS required
• ACLS required
• EPIC EHR experience required
• Proven telemetry experience and comfort with dysrhythmia interpretation
• Able to perform IV starts and IV therapy; phlebotomy skills preferred
• Experience with HFNC, heparin protocols, IV insulin protocols, and cardiac drip management (no titration)
• Willingness to float within units of equivalent or lower acuity
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
• Previous travel experience preferred but not required

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation

• Familiarity with stepdown unit workflows and patient populations
