Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality step-down/PCU nursing care for adult and geriatric patients
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry and respond to dysrhythmias
• Start, maintain, and manage IVs, peripheral and central lines, and PICC care
• Administer blood products and follow heparin and IV insulin protocols per policy
• Operate and manage respiratory supports including HFNC, BiPAP/CPAP, and chest tube care
• Collaborate with rapid response and code teams when emergent intervention is needed
• Coordinate care with interdisciplinary teams including PT, respiratory, pharmacy, and social services
• Float to other stepdown/PCU units and campuses as needed while maintaining high standards of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Ohio required
• Minimum 2 years of nursing experience; solid step-down/PCU experience considered equivalent
• BLS and ACLS required
• Demonstrated IV start skills and telemetry experience
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record required
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions allowed); COVID-19 vaccine not required per facility guideline
• Ability to float to other units and campuses as needed; previous charge experience preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation
• IV therapy, phlebotomy, PICC and central line care
• Arterial line management and ABG interpretation
• High Flow Nasal Cannula, BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, tracheostomy care
• Management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
• Blood product administration and peri-hemodialysis care
• Wound care and wound VAC management
• Familiarity with isolation precautions and PPE
• Procedural sedation monitoring (preferred) and rapid response participation
