Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate assistance with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) to preserve dignity and independence
• Support safe mobility and transfers, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Monitor and record residents’ condition — vital signs, intake/output, and behavioral changes — and report concerns promptly
• Assist with meal service and ensure residents receive proper nutrition and hydration
• Maintain a clean, safe environment by following infection control and safety protocols
• Engage residents in meaningful activities and social interaction to enhance quality of life
• Document care accurately and timely, collaborating with nurses and the care team to deliver coordinated care

Qualifications

• GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required and valid for practice in Maryland
• Current BLS/CPR certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
• Up-to-date immunizations and TB screening as required by the facility
• Background check and drug screening clearance
• Comfortable working the 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM evening shift
• Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Hands-on knowledge of ADLs and basic geriatric care needs
• Familiarity with infection control practices and resident safety procedures
• Ability to accurately take and record basic vital signs and observations
• Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
• Basic charting/documentation skills and attention to detail
• Calm, adaptable approach to the pace and unpredictability of clinical care
