Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-acuity ICU nursing care to adult and adolescent patients (15+), using strong critical thinking every shift
• Continuously monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms using centralized Draeger monitoring
• Titrate vasoactive drips and other infusions safely and precisely per unit protocols
• Manage ventilator support and troubleshoot respiratory equipment from nasal cannula to full ventilation
• Respond to rapid response teams and codes and function reliably as part of the resuscitation team
• Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams including intensivists, surgeons, RTs, and trainees to coordinate complex care
• Document patient care accurately and timely in EPIC and participate in handoffs and unit reporting
• Support unit throughput by floating to inpatient units as needed, excluding Maternity/NICU

Qualifications

• Active RN license (state licensure required for practice)
• Minimum 2 years recent ICU experience required
• BLS and ACLS required and NIHSS required
• Driver's license required at submittal (used to confirm radius eligibility)
• Ability to pass orientation competency assessment (open-book exam; 90% required)
• Willingness to adhere to unit policies (for example, no artificial nails in patient care areas)
• Comfort working in a fast-paced tertiary care trauma center and willingness to float to other inpatient units

Education

• Active RN license required. BSN preferred but not required.

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Drip titration for vasopressors, sedatives, paralytics, and other critical infusions
• Ventilator troubleshooting and basic vent management
• Critical care assessment including recognition of MODS, ARDS, sepsis, shock
• Familiarity with ICU devices and invasive monitoring (CVPs, Arterial lines, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitors)
• Experience or comfort with EPIC electronic charting
• Ability to work in team-based environment and communicate with physicians, fellows, and residents
• Comfort with rapid learning on specialty equipment (CRRT, Impella/balloon pumps, Thermoguard) — on-the-job training available
