Roles & Responsibilities

• Room patients efficiently and compassionately to maintain smooth clinic flow
• Collect and document accurate patient histories, vital signs, and point of care testing results
• Perform specimen collection and phlebotomy with proper labeling and transport procedures
• Administer immunizations and injections per provider orders and clinic protocols
• Prepare exam rooms, set up equipment, and assist providers with procedures and minor surgeries
• Monitor and report changes in patient condition, escalating concerns when appropriate
• Assist with EKG and cardiac monitoring, and operate common clinical equipment safely
• Lead and mentor Clinical Assistant I and II staff, contributing to a collaborative team culture
• Support clinic administrative duties including phone triage, orders processing, and EMR documentation
• Participate in meetings and quality initiatives to continually improve patient care

Qualifications

• Current national Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential required
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
• One year of experience working in a healthcare setting preferred
• Competency in phlebotomy, POCT, immunizations, and specimen handling
• Ability to operate equipment such as blood pressure cuffs, pulse oximeters, EKG machines, and cardiac monitors
• Ability to train and mentor clinical assistants and work independently with good judgment
• Successful completion of background/fingerprinting clearance prior to start

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) - required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) - required
• Nursing degree from an accredited institution may be accepted in lieu of CMA

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with EMR/medical database documentation and accurate patient charting
• Solid knowledge of clinic procedures, triage, and patient flow management
• Strong communication and customer service skills for interacting with patients and the care team
• Familiarity with medical terminology and age-appropriate vital signs and behaviors
• Comfortable performing point-of-care testing, specimen collection, and lab draws
• Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations
