Roles & Responsibilities
- Perform rapid, focused assessments and triage to prioritize care in a fast-paced adult emergency department
- Provide advanced cardiac monitoring and telemetry interpretation to detect and respond to critical changes
- Initiate and manage IV therapy, including PICC and central line management as required
- Manage airway interventions including CPAP/BiPAP, ventilator support, tracheostomy care and procedural sedation
- Execute emergency procedures such as cardioversion and defibrillation safely and effectively
- Collaborate with the care team to coordinate admissions, consults, and timely disposition for high-acuity patients
- Deliver strong customer service to patients and families while maintaining clinical excellence
- Document care thoroughly and communicate clear handoffs to maintain continuity and patient safety
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — eligible to practice in Missouri (state license or compact as applicable)
- Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience preferred (3-5 years ED experience noted as ideal)
- Strong Emergency Department clinical skills with adult emergency care experience
- Certifications: BLS required; ACLS strongly preferred
- Demonstrated competency with IV insertion, PICC/central line care, and cardiac monitoring
- Comfortable with procedural sedation, ventilator management, and airway interventions
- Excellent teamwork, communication, and customer-service oriented approach
Education
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Emergency Department nursing and adult emergency care
- IV insertion and vascular access management (PICC/central line experience)
- 12-lead EKG acquisition and telemetry interpretation
- Cardiac arrest management, cardioversion and defibrillation
- Procedural sedation, CPAP/BiPAP, mechanical ventilation and tracheostomy care
- Airway management and rapid sequence assessment
- Behavioral health awareness and experience with chemical dependency preferred
- Strong situational awareness, prioritization and multi-patient management
