Roles & Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate patient care using the full nursing process — assess, plan, implement and evaluate
• Lead and support unit staff (PCTs, CMAs, LPNs and RNs) to deliver safe, high-quality care
• Direct clinic patient flow and collaborate with other RN Charges to optimize operations
• Administer medications and treatments and interpret diagnostic tests when needed
• Provide patient, family and caregiver education with cultural sensitivity and age-specific care
• Document care accurately and ensure charting meets clinic standards
• Serve as a clinical resource and escalate issues to leadership as appropriate
• Assist with staffing decisions, resume reviews and onboarding of agency or travel staff

Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse license in the State of Alaska (must be in good standing)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 4 years of charge nurse experience in a clinic or urgent care setting
• Ability to pass and maintain required competencies for the position
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and comfort with documentation systems
• Flexible schedule and ability to act independently within established guidelines
• BSN preferred

Education

• Graduate of an NLN-approved nursing program (Associate or Diploma acceptable)
• BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient application of the nursing process and care management
• Patient assessment and clinical decision-making
• Medication administration and interpretation of diagnostic tests
• Care coordination across the continuum and clinic flow management
• Supervisory and leadership skills for directing unit personnel
• Medical terminology and comfort with common clinical equipment
• Ability to work effectively with diverse cultural populations and age groups
• Competence with office and clinical tools (computer, phone, dynamap, scales, thermometer)
