Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents as a trusted CNA
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and toileting
- Monitor and record vital signs and report any changes to the nursing team
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics
- Document care accurately and timely to maintain continuity and quality
- Communicate clearly and kindly with residents, families, and teammates
- Help maintain a clean, safe environment and follow infection control practices
- Participate in team huddles and care planning to deliver person-centered care
Qualifications
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (required)
- Ability to obtain or hold Maine CNA credentials as required by facility
- Comfortable assisting with ADLs and working directly with residents
- Strong communication skills and a teamwork mindset
- Previous long-term care or facility experience preferred but not required
- BLS/CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an approved CNA training program (required for certification)
Knowledge & Skills
- Hands-on resident care and assistance with ADLs
- Measuring and recording vital signs accurately
- Safe patient transfer and mobility techniques
- Basic infection control and hygiene practices
- Clear, compassionate communication with residents and families
- Documentation best practices and attention to detail
- Team collaboration and following care plans
