Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead and manage clinical and administrative operations of a Level III NICU, ensuring safe, high-quality neonatal care
• Mentor and develop charge nurses and emerging leaders to build a resilient leadership bench
• Drive and sustain change management initiatives while supporting staff through transitions
• Collaborate closely with neonatologists, multidisciplinary teams, and hospital leadership to optimize clinical outcomes
• Oversee staffing, scheduling, performance management and unit operations for a 42-bed NICU
• Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, policies and EMR documentation standards (EPIC experience required)
• Maintain 24-hour accountability for the unit and coordinate resources to meet patient and family needs

Qualifications

• Current Wisconsin RN license (Compact allowed)
• Previous interim leadership experience (minimum 1 assignment required; 2+ preferred)
• NICU experience in a Level III setting (required)
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic medical record (required)
• Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP (required)
• Driver's license and ability to travel home less frequently than every weekend during assignment
• Proven experience mentoring leaders and managing teams through change
• Ability to limit time off before late April to meet departmental coverage needs
• Comfort working within a unionized nursing workforce

Knowledge & Skills

• Deep knowledge of neonatal critical care practices and Level III NICU workflows
• Experience with vasoactive drips used in neonates (epinephrine, norepinephrine, dopamine)
• Strong clinical and administrative leadership skills, including staff development and performance oversight
• Change management, resiliency and the ability to lead through transitions
• EPIC EMR proficiency for documentation, orders and reporting
• Excellent communication, collaboration and problem-solving skills
