Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, patient-centered psychiatric nursing care to adult patients
• Assess mental health status, develop nursing plans, and implement therapeutic interventions
• Administer medications safely and monitor patient responses
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate treatment and discharge planning
• De-escalate crises using evidence-based techniques and maintain a safe therapeutic environment
• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes clearly and promptly in the medical record
• Advocate for patient needs and support recovery-focused care and patient education

Qualifications

• Current, unrestricted RN license (eligible to practice in Hawaii preferred)
• Experience or clinical interest in adult psychiatric/behavioral health nursing
• Comfortable with medication administration and psychiatric nursing interventions
• Strong communication and teamwork skills in a fast-paced clinical setting
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred or willing to obtain
• Ability to adapt to rotating shift schedules and work collaboratively with staff

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN)

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of psychiatric assessment and adult behavioral health conditions
• Skills in crisis intervention and therapeutic communication
• Medication administration and monitoring in psychiatric settings
• Proficient documentation habits and electronic medical record usage
• Ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams and contribute to care planning
