Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality respiratory care to patients across a range of acuity levels, using evidence-based practices
- Manage ventilator settings and perform respiratory assessments to optimize patient breathing
- Perform airway management procedures and administer oxygen therapies safely and effectively
- Interpret ABGs and collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to adjust care plans
- Initiate and titrate respiratory treatments, monitoring patient response and documenting appropriately
- Educate patients and families on respiratory care plans and home treatment strategies
- Respond to respiratory emergencies, including rapid response and code situations, with calm and competent action
Qualifications
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential (required)
- Minimum of 1 year of clinical respiratory therapy experience (per job posting)
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; advanced certifications (ACLS) preferred or supported
- Active state respiratory care license or ability to obtain licensure in Texas (licensure assistance available)
- Strong clinical assessment, critical thinking, and team communication skills
Education
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program (Associate's degree or equivalent preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Ventilator management and troubleshooting
- Arterial blood gas (ABG) interpretation
- Airway management and suctioning techniques
- Oxygen therapy modalities and aerosolized treatments
- Accurate clinical documentation and familiarity with electronic health records
- Infection control best practices and patient safety focus
- Effective patient and family education skills
