Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to geriatric residents, supporting dignity and independence
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, feeding) with patience and respect
- Take and document vital signs, report changes in condition to nursing staff promptly
- Support mobility, transfers and safe ambulation to reduce fall risk
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation of care and resident interactions
- Collaborate with nurses, therapists and family members to deliver person-centered care
- Follow infection control protocols and contribute to a clean, safe resident environment
Qualifications
- GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent required
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- Previous experience working with older adults or in long-term care is a plus
- Ability to pass background checks, TB screening and any required health screenings
- Compassionate communication skills and ability to work well within a care team
- Reliable, punctual and able to perform physical aspects of the role
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- GNA certification (required) — facility may accept equivalent state certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Solid understanding of geriatric care principles and resident dignity
- Basic clinical skills: taking vitals, safe transfers, ADL assistance
- Clear documentation and observational skills to notice small but important changes
- Infection control practices and safe handling procedures
- Strong interpersonal skills to connect with residents and families
- Time management and ability to prioritize resident needs in a busy environment
