Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to residents, assisting with activities of daily living
- Assist with bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor and report changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff promptly
- Follow care plans and document resident interactions accurately and professionally
- Support safe transfers and use proper body mechanics to protect residents and yourself
- Foster a warm, respectful environment that supports resident dignity and independence
- Participate in team huddles and support a positive, collaborative workplace culture
Qualifications
- GNA certification (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) required or equivalent credential
- Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or similar preferred
- Current basic life support (BLS/CPR) certification preferred
- Ability to pass background check, TB screening, and required immunizations
- Strong communication skills and a patient, empathetic approach
- Physical ability to assist with transfers and perform direct resident care
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; GNA certification required
Knowledge & Skills
- Knowledge of activities of daily living (ADLs) and basic resident care
- Understanding of infection control and safety procedures
- Skill in safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics
- Ability to observe, document, and communicate changes in resident condition
- Familiarity with maintaining resident dignity and promoting independence
- Teamwork and time-management skills in a fast-paced care setting
