Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, and mobility
- Take and record vital signs and report any significant changes to the nursing team
- Support a safe and comfortable environment by following infection control and safety protocols
- Document care activities accurately and communicate effectively during shift handoffs
- Promote resident dignity and social engagement through respectful interactions
- Collaborate with nurses and interdisciplinary team members to deliver consistent care
Qualifications
- GNA or CNA certification preferred; equivalent state-approved certification accepted
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willing to obtain
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
- Compassionate attitude, strong communication skills, and ability to work as part of a team
- Previous experience in long-term care or geriatrics is a plus
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- State GNA/CNA certification preferred
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care needs and common age-related conditions
- Basic clinical skills: vital signs, transfers, safe resident handling
- Familiarity with infection control practices and patient safety principles
- Clear, respectful communication with residents, families, and team members
- Reliable documentation and attention to detail
- Time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
