Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate personal care to residents, assisting with bathing, grooming, and dressing
- Support activities of daily living including feeding, toileting, and mobility assistance
- Monitor residents for changes in condition and promptly report observations to nursing staff
- Document care accurately and clearly in resident records
- Assist with safe transfer and positioning techniques to promote mobility and prevent falls
- Collaborate with nursing and therapy teams to support individualized care plans
- Maintain a clean, safe, and respectful environment for residents and visitors
Qualifications
- Valid GNA or CNA certification (state-specific) — Maryland certification required or in progress
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred
- Experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
- Comfortable assisting with resident transfers and providing hands-on care
- Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-centered attitude
- Ability to pass background checks and required health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or GED
- State GNA/CNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of geriatric care principles and resident dignity
- Familiarity with ADLs (activities of daily living) and basic charting
- Infection control practices and safe hand hygiene
- Basic mobility and safe transfer techniques
- Good time management and ability to prioritize resident needs
- Teamwork and clear communication with multidisciplinary staff
