Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, person-centered care to geriatric residents and patients
- Assist with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility) while preserving dignity
- Monitor and report changes in resident condition to nursing staff promptly
- Support safe transfers, ambulation, and fall prevention efforts
- Maintain accurate documentation of care and resident interactions
- Help create a warm, respectful environment that promotes comfort and independence
Qualifications
- Current Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or state equivalent (verify state requirements)
- Comfortable and confident working the 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM night shift
- Demonstrated compassion and experience working with older adults (facility experience preferred)
- Ability to pass background check and drug screen as required by facility policies
- Basic communication skills and ability to follow care plans; BLS/CPR preferred
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred; completion of an approved GNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of safe patient handling and transfer techniques
- Familiarity with infection control practices and hand hygiene
- Basic vital signs monitoring and recognition of common geriatric concerns
- Strong interpersonal skills and a patient, respectful approach
- Reliable time management and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
