Shift Type: Rotating shifts with flexible start/end times: options include three 12-hour shifts (example 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM), four 10-hour shifts (example 7:00 AM - 5:00 PM) or five 8-hour shifts (example 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM); schedule negotiable; approximately every 5th weekend on-call (split between Call 1 and Call 2), 1-2 on-call shifts per week; 30-minute on-site response time for calls; possible holiday call rotation

Roles & Responsibilities

• Prepare and maintain a sterile field and ensure proper sterile technique throughout procedures
• Anticipate surgeon needs and deliver instruments and supplies promptly for general, vascular, orthopedic and neurosurgical cases
• Perform meticulous instrument handling and central processing tasks to keep turnover efficient and safe
• Assist with case setup, counts, and documentation to support patient safety and OR flow
• Respond to on-call notifications and arrive on-site within the required 30-minute response time
• Collaborate with the surgical team and perioperative staff to adapt to changing case volume and emergent needs
• Participate in holiday and weekend rotations as scheduled to ensure continuous patient care

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program (required)
• BLS certification required
• CST certification preferred but not required
• Proven, broad OR experience across general, vascular, orthopedic and neurosurgery procedures
• Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills in high-pressure surgical environments
• Willingness to participate in on-call and holiday rotations and to maintain a 30-minute on-site response time

Education

• Graduate of an accredited surgical technology program

Knowledge & Skills

• Expertise in sterile technique and perioperative care
• Skillful instrument handling and knowledge of central processing and instrumentation
• Comfortable working in fast-paced OR settings with multiple surgical specialties
• Effective communication and teamwork with surgeons, nurses and tech staff
• Ability to prioritize tasks and adapt to variable case volumes and call demands
• On-call experience and familiarity with holiday/ weekend rotations
