Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate, hands-on care to residents with dignity and respect
- Assist with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, feeding, and mobility
- Accurately document resident care, observations, and any changes in condition
- Collaborate with nursing staff to follow care plans and report concerns promptly
- Support a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for residents
- Engage residents in friendly conversation and emotional support to enhance quality of life
Qualifications
- Current CNA certification in the state of Maine (or eligible to obtain)
- CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Comfortable assisting with transfers and daily living tasks
- Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Ability to pass background check and required health screenings
- Previous long-term care or nursing home experience is a plus but not always required
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of an approved CNA program and state certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Basic patient care techniques and safe transfer methods
- Familiarity with documentation and charting best practices
- Strong observational skills to notice changes in resident condition
- Compassionate bedside manner and patience with older adults
- Ability to follow care plans and take direction from licensed nurses
