Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert, compassionate labor and delivery nursing care for high-risk and routine patients
• Monitor and interpret fetal tracings using advanced fetal monitoring and act promptly on changes
• Deliver immediate newborn care, including neonatal resuscitation per NRP protocols
• Collaborate closely with OB providers, MFM and NICU teams to coordinate safe, timely care
• Serve as circulating nurse for cesarean deliveries and assist in operative procedures when needed
• Document patient care accurately in Cerner and Fetal Ink to maintain continuity and safety
• Maintain appropriate patient ratios (1:1 or 1:2) and prioritize interventions based on acuity
• Support and educate families through labor, delivery and postpartum transitions

Qualifications

• Current RN licensure (state license required for practice in North Carolina)
• Minimum 2+ years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience (explicit requirement)
• Experience in high-risk obstetrics
• NRP certification required
• BLS/ALS certification required
• Advanced Fetal Monitoring certification required
• Comfortable using Cerner and fetal monitoring systems (Fetal Ink, Philips EFM)
• Ability to float to MFMU, MOMB and NICU as needed

Knowledge & Skills

• Advanced fetal monitoring interpretation and response
• Immediate newborn care and neonatal resuscitation (NRP)
• Cerner EMR documentation proficiency
• Experience with Baxter infusion pumps and Philips electronic fetal monitoring
• Circulating experience in cesarean sections and operative support
• Comfort managing high-risk obstetric scenarios and collaborating with MFM/NICU
• Strong communication, adaptability and teamwork in fast-paced perinatal settings
