Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead preparation and review of Medicare DSH components claimed on filed cost reports to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Prepare S-10 Charity/Uninsured schedules and compile supporting documentation for cost report filings
- Perform Bad Debt Analysis for inclusion in cost reports and support reimbursement staff with analysis and reconciliation
- Collaborate with reimbursement and financial services teams to drive timely, auditable cost report submissions
- Analyze data trends, identify risks or anomalies, and recommend corrective actions to improve reimbursement outcomes
- Communicate findings clearly to stakeholders and assist in responding to regulatory or payer inquiries
Qualifications
- Required: Hands-on experience with Medicare DSH, S-10 Charity/Uninsured schedules, and Bad Debt Analysis
- Required: Experience supporting cost report filings and reimbursement activities
- Preferred: Prior experience in healthcare financial services, hospital cost reporting, or reimbursement teams
- Strong analytical skills and comfort with large datasets and reconciliations
- Excellent written and verbal communication — able to present technical findings to business partners
- Experience working onsite with cross-functional teams and meeting tight reporting deadlines
Knowledge & Skills
- Deep knowledge of cost reporting processes and reimbursement methodologies
- Familiarity with Medicare DSH rules and S-10 reporting requirements
- Skilled at bad debt analysis and supporting documentation for cost reports
- Ability to collaborate with reimbursement staff and translate analysis into actionable recommendations
- Attention to detail and a process-driven approach to ensure compliance and audit readiness
