Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, high-quality nursing care to PCU/stepdown patients, prioritizing patient safety and comfort
• Monitor patient status closely and respond promptly to changes in condition
• Perform and interpret telemetry monitoring and manage patient acuity up to stepdown level
• Administer medications and treatments accurately while following ACLS/BLS/NIH protocols
• Document care thoroughly and timely in the Meditech EMR to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team — physicians, managers, technicians — to develop and execute patient care plans
• Support unit operations by floating to other areas as needed and helping maintain positive team dynamics
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and unit-based patient safety efforts

Qualifications

• Active RN license (required)
• Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (PCU/stepdown experience preferred)
• Required certifications: BLS and NIH (ACLS highly desired/required per job posting)
• Experience with Meditech or similar EMR is a plus
• Comfort working in a fast-paced unit with variable patient ratios (can reach 1:4 to 1:5)
• Strong communication, time management, and teamwork skills

Education

• Active RN license (required)

• Clinical knowledge of stepdown/PCU patient care and telemetry
• Proficiency with Meditech EMR documentation and workflows
• ACLS and BLS clinical protocols and emergency response
• Patient assessment, critical thinking, and prioritization skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team
• Compassionate bedside manner and commitment to patient safety
