Shift Type: Day shift, 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM; rotating coverage with call and late shifts (approximately 5 shifts in rotation). Includes day coverage for PACU and on-call/night call coverage as needed.

Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and stabilize patients in the post-anesthesia care unit, ensuring safe recovery after surgery
• Perform focused assessments, document changes, and intervene promptly to maintain patient safety
• Collaborate with the surgical and anesthesia teams to coordinate handoffs and transitions of care
• Administer medications and manage pain control consistent with unit protocols
• Use Meditech EMR to accurately chart patient care events and communicate with multidisciplinary team members
• Provide compassionate family updates and education, keeping families informed during recovery
• Participate in hourly safety rounds and contribute to an efficient, proactive workflow on the unit

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience (PACU or perioperative/post-anesthesia care preferred)
• Required certifications as listed: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• PALS is a preferred certification
• Meditech EMR experience is a plus
• Prior HCA experience is a desirable bonus
• Comfort working in a fast-paced perioperative environment with patient ratios typically 1-2 patients per nurse

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong post-anesthesia assessment and patient stabilization skills
• Familiarity with PACU workflows, monitoring equipment (EKG, glucometer, bladder scanner, Mobilab)
• Experience with Meditech electronic medical record documentation
• Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment and communicate clearly with patients, families, and surgical teams
• Proactive time management and efficient clinical workflow skills
