Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate direct and indirect nursing care to adult and adolescent inpatient psychiatric patients
• Collaborate with the multi-disciplinary treatment team to develop, implement, and document individualized treatment plans
• Maintain a safe, therapeutic milieu grounded in trauma-informed care principles
• Assume charge responsibilities when assigned and support unit flow as a float nurse
• Use clinical judgment to assess risk, intervene in crises, and de-escalate situations safely
• Accurately document care in the Electronic Medical Record and communicate clearly with team members and families
• Coach and delegate to nursing staff while fostering a calm, organized, and professional environment

Qualifications

• Current Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) license required at time of submission
• Minimum 1 year of adult and adolescent inpatient psychiatric experience required
• CPR certification required
• Willingness to float between units and take charge when needed (leadership mindset)
• Experience with restraint reduction/de-escalation and crisis intervention preferred
• Previous work with substance use treatment a plus
• Comfortable using Electronic Medical Record systems

Education

• Active RN license in the State of Massachusetts (required)
• BSN preferred

• Strong command of the nursing process and psychiatric nursing principles
• Trauma-informed care and recovery-oriented practices
• Crisis management and effective de-escalation techniques
• Therapeutic communication and ability to set professional boundaries
• Time management, delegation, coaching, and team-building skills
• Accurate documentation and EMR proficiency
• Ability to remain calm and organized in stressful situations
