Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide expert fetal heart monitoring and continuous assessment for high-risk pregnancies
• Manage labor and delivery care from admission through postpartum handoff
• Assist with and circulate for C-sections and support vaginal deliveries
• Perform sterile vaginal exams and essential intrapartum procedures
• Serve in the newborn role at delivery and provide postpartum couplet care when needed
• Chart accurately and efficiently in Epic to ensure continuity of care
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams (anesthesia, respiratory, social services, pharmacy) to optimize patient outcomes
• Maintain strict patient privacy and discretion — this facility serves high-profile patients

Qualifications

• Active RN license valid for practice in California (pending licenses not accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of Labor & Delivery/perinatal RN experience (first-timers not accepted)
• Current ACLS, BLS, NRP certifications required (AHA certification for ACLS/BLS)
• AWHONN Advanced preferred; NCC EFM is acceptable in lieu of AWHONN
• Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM) competency or NCC EFM certification
• Experience assisting with and/or circulating for C-sections; scrubbing experience a plus
• Travel RN experience required; able to work nights and float to postpartum as needed
• Comfortable with Epic charting and working in a busy acute care hospital (teaching hospital experience preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong fetal monitoring interpretation and high-risk pregnancy management
• Labor & Delivery management including antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum care
• Skilled in sterile technique, sterile vaginal exams, and OR suite procedures
• Proficient in Epic electronic charting
• Able to perform newborn role at delivery and offer newborn/maternal couplet care
• Effective communicator with families and multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and discretion
