Roles & Responsibilities

• Monitor and manage patients with cardiac conditions including STEMI, NSTEMI and CHF, providing vigilant, high-quality care
• Administer IV antiarrhythmics and other critical medications safely and according to protocol
• Manage noninvasive ventilation and cardiothoracic post-op patients transitioning from ICU
• Provide skilled nursing for CVCU/Med Surg holds and float assignments to Med/Surg and ER when required
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation and communicate changes in patient condition to the interdisciplinary team
• Participate in rapid response and critical interventions when patients deteriorate, keeping patient safety front and center
• Educate patients and families about diagnoses, treatments and discharge planning with empathy and clarity

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — ready to practice in Oklahoma (or hold compact privileges if applicable)
• At least 6 months of Stepdown nursing experience — REQUIRED
• Demonstrated ability to float to Med/Surg or ER to cover CVCU/Med Surg holds — REQUIRED
• Comfortable administering IV antiarrhythmic medications and managing noninvasive ventilation
• Strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to prioritize in a 33-bed unit with a 1:4 ratio
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications preferred

Education

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program (ADN or BSN) — basic nursing education required

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical expertise in cardiac patient management (STEMI, NSTEMI, CHF)
• Experience with cardiothoracic post-op care and monitoring
• Skilled in IV medication administration, including antiarrhythmics
• Competence with noninvasive ventilation modalities
• Ability to handle CVCU/Med Surg holds and adapt when floating to Med/Surg or ER
• Strong assessment, triage and delegation skills under night-shift conditions
• Clear, compassionate communication with patients, families and interdisciplinary teams
