Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality cardiac and stepdown nursing care for STEMI/NSTEMI, CHF, post-cardiothoracic surgery patients, and those requiring noninvasive ventilation
- Continuously monitor telemetry and respond to arrhythmias and acute cardiac events using ACLS protocols
- Manage IV antiarrhythmic therapies and care for central vascular care unit (CVCU) holds
- Float to Med/Surg and ER areas as needed to support patient flow and ensure safe handoffs
- Perform rapid stroke assessments using NIHSS and collaborate on time-sensitive interventions
- Communicate clearly with physicians, multidisciplinary teams, patients, and families to coordinate care plans
- Maintain accurate, timely documentation and contribute to unit quality and safety initiatives
Qualifications
- Current Oklahoma RN license (Compact allowed)
- Minimum 6 months of Stepdown nursing experience required
- Ability and willingness to float to Med/Surg and ER to accept CVCU/Med Surg holds
- ACLS certification required
- NIHSS certification required or active copy preferred
- Comfort working in a telemetry/cardiac stepdown environment and managing higher-acuity patients
Knowledge & Skills
- Telemetry interpretation and cardiac rhythm recognition
- Familiarity with management of STEMI/NSTEMI and CHF patients
- Experience with noninvasive ventilation and post-cardiothoracic surgery care
- Skilled in IV medication administration including antiarrhythmics
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and rapid decision-making skills
- Effective communication and teamwork across disciplines
- Proficiency with electronic health record documentation
