Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate, evidence-based maternity care across labor, delivery, and postpartum
• Monitor maternal and fetal status using appropriate assessment tools and escalate changes promptly
• Administer medications, IV therapy, and interventions safely while documenting thoroughly
• Collaborate with obstetricians, midwives, neonatology, and the interdisciplinary team to optimize outcomes
• Educate and support patients and families on labor progress, postpartum care, and newborn basics
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement and safety initiatives to enhance patient care
• Coach and precept team members and travel colleagues to maintain excellent continuity of care

Qualifications

• Active RN license in New York or ability to obtain state licensure before start
• Current BLS required; NRP preferred for labor/delivery/newborn care
• Travel nurse credentials and documentation (immunizations, TB test, background check) ready for quick onboarding
• Clinical experience in labor & delivery, maternal-child, or similar maternity settings preferred
• Strong teamwork, communication, and patient advocacy skills

Education

• ADN or BSN in Nursing required; BSN preferred

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient in fetal monitoring and interpretation of tracings
• Skilled in labor support, delivery assistance, and immediate postpartum care
• Newborn assessment and basic neonatal care knowledge
• IV therapy, medication administration, and emergency response capabilities
• Comfortable with electronic charting and clear, timely documentation
• Ability to educate and support families through labor, birth, and postpartum transitions
