Roles & Responsibilities

• Room patients and obtain accurate vital signs to support efficient clinic flow
• Prepare exam rooms, set up and assist with procedures, and ensure supplies are ready
• Collect, label, and process specimens including throat swabs, UA/clean catch, and blood draws
• Perform venipuncture, point-of-care testing (glucometer), and basic laboratory tests
• Administer injections and immunizations per protocol and document appropriately
• Document patient histories, medications, allergies, and visit notes in Epic
• Triage telephone calls, manage pharmacy refill requests, and follow up on patient needs
• Support clinicians by removing sutures, administering TB tests, and performing screening tests like hearing and vision
• Provide patient education, answer care questions, and escalate concerns to clinicians when needed

Qualifications

• Active MA-C certification required (MA-R not accepted)
• Current BLS certification required
• Minimum 1 year of healthcare experience; first-timers accepted for strong candidates
• Familiarity with Epic charting is required
• Comfortable working in adult outpatient cardiology clinic settings
• Reliable personal transportation required; local candidates preferred (50-mile rule)
• Willingness to float within scope to meet facility needs

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Medical Assistant certification (MA-C) required
• Current BLS certification required

Knowledge & Skills

• Proficient with Epic electronic health record and clinical charting
• Strong knowledge of healthcare terminology and outpatient clinic workflows
• Skilled in obtaining vital signs, venipuncture, specimen collection, and labeling
• Experience with injections, immunizations, nebulizer treatments, and TB testing
• Comfortable with telephone triage, pharmacy calls, and follow-up communication
• Able to perform screening tasks such as hearing and vision testing
• Capable of assisting with procedures and basic wound care like suture removal
• Organized with solid office duties and patient rooming skills
