Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, grooming) with dignity and respect
- Support mobility and transfers safely, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Observe and report changes in resident condition to the nursing team promptly
- Help with meal setup and feeding assistance when needed, ensuring comfort and nutrition
- Maintain clear, accurate documentation of care and tasks completed
- Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to residents and families
- Follow facility infection control and safety protocols to keep everyone safe
Qualifications
- GNA (Geriatric Nursing Assistant) or equivalent credential — you know your residents and how to care for them
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or ability to obtain soon after hire
- Comfortable assisting with personal care and mobility; strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills and a team-player attitude
- Ability to pass background checks and any state-required health screenings
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of an accredited GNA program or equivalent training
Knowledge & Skills
- Understanding of basic geriatric care needs and age-related conditions
- Skill with safe transfer techniques and mobility assistance
- Basic vital sign measurement and observation skills
- Strong interpersonal skills — patience, empathy, and clear communication
- Familiarity with documentation practices in a long-term care setting
