Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate direct patient care, ensuring dignity and comfort
- Administer medications and treatments accurately and safely
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and report clinical changes promptly
- Collaborate with RNs, physicians, and the interdisciplinary team to support patient plans
- Document assessments, interventions, and patient progress clearly in the electronic record
- Educate patients and families on care plans, medications, and discharge instructions
- Assist with admissions, discharges, and safe patient transfers
- Maintain infection control, safety standards, and regulatory compliance on the unit
Qualifications
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) active license, ability to practice in Maryland or obtain state authorization
- Current BLS/CPR certification or willingness to obtain upon hire
- Relevant clinical experience preferred; new graduates may be considered depending on unit needs
- Ability to pass background check, drug screen, and required health screenings
- Strong communication skills, clinical judgment, and a patient-centered mindset
Education
- Completion of an accredited Practical Nursing / LPN program
Knowledge & Skills
- Medication administration and basic IV/SC competency where applicable
- Patient assessment and documentation in an electronic medical record
- Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols
- Ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced care environment
- Teamwork, empathy, and clear communication with patients and colleagues
