Shift Type: Night shift, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM (overnight); schedule includes every-other-weekend coverage
Hours per Week: 36
Candidate Pay Rate: $56 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate postoperative orthopedic nursing care to patients on the J6 Orthopedics unit
- Perform and document dressing changes, suture/staple removal, and Wound VAC maintenance
- Manage urinary catheters (Foley) and enteral support (NG tubes) with safe technique
- Use Cerner EMR to accurately document assessments, interventions, and patient progress
- Collaborate with surgeons, therapists, and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care
- Safely mobilize patients using equipment such as Sara lifts, CPMs, and transfer devices
- Triage and prioritize patient needs during busy periods while maintaining patient-centered care
- Contribute to a positive unit culture by mentoring colleagues and assisting with orientation as needed
Qualifications
- Active NC Registered Nurse (RN) license required
- BLS certification required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience (Orthopedic or Med-Surg experience preferred)
- Hands-on experience with Cerner or a similar EMR
- Comfortable with wound care, Foley catheter management, and NG tube care
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and provide family-centered care
Knowledge & Skills
- Orthopedic nursing principles and postoperative care
- Med-Surg patient management and acuity recognition
- Proficiency with Cerner electronic medical records
- Wound VAC maintenance and advanced dressing change techniques
- Foley catheter and NG tube insertion/management best practices
- Safe patient mobility and use of lifts and transfer equipment
- Ability to manage patient assignments consistent with stated unit ratios
