Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality telemetry nursing care to general surgery patients, monitoring and responding to cardiac rhythms and changes in condition
• Manage patient assignments of roughly 6 to 7 patients depending on shift, prioritizing safety and effective care planning
• Administer and manage complex therapies such as TPN, IV antibiotics, and heparin drips with attention to best practices
• Provide wound care including wound VAC management and care for ostomies and drains
• Perform enteral and NG tube management, PEG/Dobhoff feedings, and related nursing interventions
• Operate and troubleshoot bedside equipment including Baxter IV pumps, PCA devices, and telemetry monitors
• Communicate clearly and professionally with charge nurses, providers, unit secretaries, and CNA teams to coordinate patient care
• Document accurately in the Cerner EMR to ensure continuity and quality of care

Qualifications

• Active RN licensure required and eligible to work in North Carolina
• Telemetry competency required and current BLS certification
• Minimum 2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in med-surg or telemetry
• Comfort managing 6 to 7 patients on a shift with strong prioritization and time management skills
• Experience with urology and bowel patient populations preferred
• Familiarity with Cerner EMR workflows is a plus

Education

• Active RN license (Registered Nurse) required

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• Clinical experience with TPN, PCA, wound VACs, tube feeds (PEG/Dobhoff), and NG tubes
• Colostomy and urostomy care, drains (biliary, JP, nephrostomy), and urinary catheter/CBI management
• IV medication administration including IV antibiotics and heparin drips
• Comfort using Baxter IV pumps and other bedside infusion devices
• Strong communication, teamwork, and ability to work in a fast-paced, energetic unit
