Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality telemetry nursing care for general surgery patients, monitoring cardiac rhythms and responding to changes quickly
• Manage patient assignments of 6–7 patients on shift while maintaining safety and clinical priorities
• Administer and manage IV therapies, TPN, PCA pumps, and IV antibiotics with attention to detail
• Perform ostomy, NG/PEG/Dobhoff, and drain care (biliary, JP, nephrostomy) with competence and compassion
• Collaborate closely with charge nurses, providers, unit secretaries, and CNAs to coordinate patient care
• Document accurately in Cerner EMR to ensure continuity and clarity of patient information
• Support post-operative care for a variety of procedures including urology, bowel resections, cholecystectomies, and more

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (state of practice) — compact licensure accepted where applicable
• Minimum 2 years of recent telemetry or med-surgical nursing experience
• Telemetry competency and current BLS certification required
• Comfortable managing 6–7 patients depending on shift
• Experience with Cerner EMR preferred
• Experience with TPN, PCA pumps, Baxter IV pumps, wound vacs, and tube feeds is a plus
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude

Knowledge & Skills

• Telemetry monitoring and interpretation
• Med-surgical post-operative care (urology and colorectal focus)
• IV therapy, TPN management, and PCA operation
• Ostomy care, NG/PEG tube management, and drain care
• Wound vacs and wound care basics
• Familiarity with Baxter IV pumps and infusion management
• Cerner EMR documentation skills
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment and communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
