Roles & Responsibilities

• Administer and manage chemotherapy and immunotherapy infusions safely and accurately
• Start and maintain IV access, manage ports and PICC lines with confidence
• Operate and troubleshoot infusion pumps and continuous chemotherapy infusions
• Perform patient assessments and monitor for infusion reactions and oncologic emergencies
• Recognize and escalate abnormal lab values and acute events like anaphylaxis or tumor lysis
• Provide patient and family education on medications, side effects, and body fluid handling
• Document care and treatments thoroughly in EPIC to ensure continuity and quality
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including pharmacy, social work, and radiology to optimize care

Qualifications

• Active RN license (pending license accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in infusion or oncology nursing
• Chemo certification required - hard stop, must have to administer chemotherapy
• BLS required; ONS/ONCC required, OCN preferred
• Experience with EPIC charting preferred
• Comfort with neutropenic and isolation precautions and safe cytotoxic handling
• Open to clinicians with inpatient oncology experience transitioning to outpatient infusion
• Local travelers with permanent residence within 50 miles are not eligible for this travel contract

Knowledge & Skills

• Chemotherapy administration, monitoring, and cytotoxic spill management
• Infusion therapy: IV starts, IV maintenance, peripheral and central line care
• Port and central line access, central line blood draws, PICC care
• Infusion pump management and troubleshooting
• Recognition and management of infusion-related emergencies and side effects
• Medications commonly used in oncology: antiemetics, corticosteroids, Neupogen, hormonal therapy
• Neutropenic and isolation precautions and infection control practices
• Strong patient/family education, psychosocial support, and interdisciplinary communication
