Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist the registered Physical Therapist in delivering meaningful therapeutic interventions
• Perform routine treatment procedures that help patients progress toward goals
• Observe, record, and report patient responses and progress to your supervisor
• Safely facilitate patient transfers and mobility, including minimal-assist transfers
• Maintain clear, accurate treatment documentation and patient records
• Direct and coordinate with Physical Therapy Aides during treatment as appropriate
• Communicate patient status and progress with physicians in consultation with the supervising PT
• Participate in facility educational activities and contribute to a culture of continuous learning
• Keep treatment areas clean, organized, and ready for safe patient care

Qualifications

• Arizona license required — must already hold it or have applied and be able to provide an ETA for approval
• Current certification with the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA)
• Graduation from an approved and accredited therapist program
• Demonstrated ability to perform minimal-assist transfers (ability to lift/control 50 pounds)
• Ability to work a 5-day workweek to meet the 32-hour guarantee
• Comfort working under the supervision of a registered Physical Therapist and following facility, Medicare, and insurance policies

Education

• Graduation from an approved and accredited therapist program

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven skills in therapeutic intervention and routine treatment procedures
• Strong patient transfer and mobility assistance techniques
• Accurate treatment documentation and record-keeping
• Effective communication with physicians, rehab staff, patients, and families
• Experience directing and supervising therapy aides when needed
• Familiarity with Medicare/private insurance documentation requirements and facility policies
• Commitment to patient safety, infection control, and proper use of equipment (lifts, wheelchairs, etc.)
