Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality emergency nursing care to patients of all ages in the ED
• Perform triage and independent clinical decision-making to prioritize care
• Execute physician orders and interventions accurately and promptly
• Document patient status, interventions and outcomes per hospital policy
• Collaborate with physicians and the multidisciplinary team to coordinate care and transfers
• Adhere to standards of care, nursing policies, and hospital procedures to ensure patient safety
• Support culturally competent care for Navajo, Hopi and other local populations

Qualifications

• Active RN license from any U.S. state (Arizona state license not required)
• Basic Life Support (BLS) — current and maintained throughout employment
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) — current and maintained throughout employment
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) — current and maintained throughout employment
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) — required within one year of hire
• Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) — required within one year of hire
• Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) — required within one year of hire
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) — complete within 6 months of hire
• Emergency Severity Index (ESI) Level 5 — complete within 3 months of hire
• Patient Sitter Competency training upon hire
• Ability to work independently and follow physician orders and hospital policies

Knowledge & Skills

• Triage and emergency department assessment
• Independent clinical decision-making in acute situations
• Trauma, pediatric and neonatal emergency care principles
• Familiarity with Emergency Severity Index (ESI) and NIH Stroke Scale
• Strong documentation and adherence to standards of care
• Cultural competency when serving Navajo, Hopi and other local communities
• Ability to collaborate effectively with physicians and multidisciplinary teams
