Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide compassionate hands-on care to geriatric residents, supporting daily living activities
- Assist with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting while preserving dignity and independence
- Support safe transfers and mobility using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Monitor and record vital signs, intake/output, and condition changes accurately
- Communicate resident needs and changes promptly to the nursing team and leadership
- Help create a warm, home-like environment and engage residents in meaningful activities
- Follow established care plans and infection control protocols to keep residents safe
Qualifications
- State GNA certification (required) or equivalent CNA certification
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Comfortable working with older adults and those in rehabilitation settings
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude
- Background check and health screening as required by the facility
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
- State GNA or CNA certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with basic nursing care procedures and resident safety practices
- Ability to take and document vital signs and basic observations clearly
- Knowledge of proper transfer techniques and fall prevention strategies
- Compassionate bedside manner and excellent interpersonal skills
- Comfortable with charting and following care plans
- Reliable time management and the ability to prioritize resident needs
