Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect
• Provide compassionate hands-on care and companionship to enhance quality of life
• Monitor and report changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff promptly and clearly
• Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and equipment
• Document care provided and resident responses accurately and in a timely manner
• Collaborate with nursing and therapy teams to follow care plans and promote resident goals
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification (state-approved) — required
• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehab settings is a plus
• Ability to pass background checks and meet facility health requirements
• Compassionate communication skills and a patient-first mindset

Education

• High school diploma or GED preferred
• Completion of a state-approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program and certification

Knowledge & Skills

• Skilled in personal care and assistance with ADLs
• Basic charting and accurate documentation habits
• Knowledge of infection control and safety procedures
• Comfortable with mobility assistance and safe transfer techniques
• Strong teamwork, communication, and observational skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and remain calm in busy situations
