Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and respect
- Provide compassionate hands-on care and companionship to enhance quality of life
- Monitor and report changes in residents’ condition to nursing staff promptly and clearly
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and equipment
- Document care provided and resident responses accurately and in a timely manner
- Collaborate with nursing and therapy teams to follow care plans and promote resident goals
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents
Qualifications
- Current GNA certification (state-approved) — required
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehab settings is a plus
- Ability to pass background checks and meet facility health requirements
- Compassionate communication skills and a patient-first mindset
Education
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Completion of a state-approved Geriatric Nursing Assistant program and certification
Knowledge & Skills
- Skilled in personal care and assistance with ADLs
- Basic charting and accurate documentation habits
- Knowledge of infection control and safety procedures
- Comfortable with mobility assistance and safe transfer techniques
- Strong teamwork, communication, and observational skills
- Ability to prioritize tasks and remain calm in busy situations
