Roles & Responsibilities
- Conduct clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations for patients in a correctional mental health setting
- Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans and therapeutic interventions
- Provide individual and group therapy focused on mental health stabilization and rehabilitation
- Collaborate with custody and clinical teams to coordinate care and manage safety/risk
- Maintain timely, accurate clinical documentation in accordance with facility and regulatory standards
- Participate in case conferences, trainings, and quality improvement initiatives
- Train and mentor staff during the onboarding training period to ensure continuity of care
Qualifications
- Licensed Psychologist in good standing (state license required) — OR — Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) as noted
- Experience working with adult populations and serious mental health presentations preferred
- Willingness and ability to work in a correctional facility and complete required background checks and clearances
- Strong clinical assessment, documentation, and crisis intervention skills
- Ability to commit to the 2-week on-site training schedule at the start of the assignment
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical knowledge of evidence-based therapies (CBT, DBT, trauma-informed care) and psychotherapeutic techniques
- Proficient in mental health risk assessment and management
- Familiarity with behavioral health documentation standards and regulatory compliance
- Ability to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and custody staff
- Cultural humility and competence working with diverse adult populations
- Good organizational skills and comfort managing caseload priorities in a structured setting
