Roles & Responsibilities

• Lead the unit by modeling excellent clinical care and strong, compassionate leadership
• Manage staffing, assignments and day-to-day operations to ensure smooth patient flow
• Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to promote quality outcomes and patient satisfaction
• Mentor and develop nursing staff through feedback, education and performance coaching
• Ensure regulatory compliance, safety standards and policy adherence in the unit
• Respond to on-call needs promptly and provide clinical leadership during escalations

Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Maine (compact license acceptable where applicable)
• Experience in unit management or nursing leadership (previous Unit Manager responsibilities)
• Availability to fulfill on-call requirements for the assignment
• Strong clinical judgment, communication and supervisory skills
• Current basic life support (BLS) certification is preferred or required per facility policy

Education

• Active RN license required; ADN or BSN required by many facilities (BSN preferred)

Knowledge & Skills

• Proven leadership in staffing, scheduling and performance oversight
• Patient-centered care coordination and prioritization skills
• Familiarity with quality improvement and regulatory standards
• Strong interpersonal skills for mentoring staff and coordinating interdisciplinary care
• Comfort managing unit logistics, documentation and escalation processes
