Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead the unit by modeling excellent clinical care and strong, compassionate leadership
- Manage staffing, assignments and day-to-day operations to ensure smooth patient flow
- Coordinate with interdisciplinary teams to promote quality outcomes and patient satisfaction
- Mentor and develop nursing staff through feedback, education and performance coaching
- Ensure regulatory compliance, safety standards and policy adherence in the unit
- Respond to on-call needs promptly and provide clinical leadership during escalations
Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Maine (compact license acceptable where applicable)
- Experience in unit management or nursing leadership (previous Unit Manager responsibilities)
- Availability to fulfill on-call requirements for the assignment
- Strong clinical judgment, communication and supervisory skills
- Current basic life support (BLS) certification is preferred or required per facility policy
Education
- Active RN license required; ADN or BSN required by many facilities (BSN preferred)
Knowledge & Skills
- Proven leadership in staffing, scheduling and performance oversight
- Patient-centered care coordination and prioritization skills
- Familiarity with quality improvement and regulatory standards
- Strong interpersonal skills for mentoring staff and coordinating interdisciplinary care
- Comfort managing unit logistics, documentation and escalation processes
