Roles & Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting with dignity and compassion
- Monitor residents condition and report any changes to nursing staff to help ensure timely interventions
- Support safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Document care delivered accurately and promptly in the resident record
- Create a warm, respectful environment by engaging residents in conversation and activities
- Assist with meal service, feeding, and ensuring hydration needs are met when required
- Follow infection control protocols and safety procedures to protect residents and staff
Qualifications
- State GNA or CNA certification in good standing
- Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
- Previous experience working with geriatric or long term care residents is a plus
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with nursing teams
- Ability to pass required background checks and health screenings
- Dependable, compassionate, and patient-centered approach to resident care
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an approved GNA/CNA training program
Knowledge & Skills
- Familiarity with activities of daily living assistance and basic nursing tasks
- Knowledge of infection control and resident safety best practices
- Ability to follow care plans and accurately document observations
- Good interpersonal skills for working with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams
- Comfortable with lifting and physical aspects of caregiving using proper techniques
