Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate daily care for geriatric residents, including bathing, dressing and toileting
• Monitor and record vital signs and resident status accurately and promptly
• Assist with safe transfers and mobility, using proper body mechanics and lifting techniques
• Support residents with meals and feeding assistance when needed
• Document resident care and observations clearly in charts or electronic records
• Communicate effectively with nurses, families and care teams to ensure continuity of care
• Promote dignity and independence by encouraging resident participation in daily activities

Qualifications

• Active Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification or equivalent
• Prior experience in long-term care or geriatric settings preferred but welcoming to strong new grads
• Ability to work night shifts and provide consistent, reliable coverage
• Willingness to complete required background checks and provide up-to-date immunizations
• Current CPR/BLS certification preferred or willingness to obtain
• Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team

Education

• High school diploma or GED required
• Completion of an approved GNA training program and current GNA certificate

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable providing hands-on personal care for older adults
• Skilled at measuring and recording vital signs and basic observations
• Familiarity with safe resident handling and transfer techniques
• Strong communication and documentation skills
• Compassionate, patient-centered approach and cultural sensitivity
• Basic infection control and safety practices
