Roles & Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility
• Support safe transfers and ambulation, using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
• Monitor resident condition and behavior, promptly reporting changes to nursing staff
• Document care accurately and timely in the facility charting system
• Provide compassionate companionship and engage residents in meaningful activities
• Collaborate with the care team to follow care plans and promote resident dignity
• Observe and follow infection control and safety protocols at all times

Qualifications

• Current GNA certification or state equivalent (required)
• Valid state GNA/CNA license or eligibility to work in Maryland
• Previous experience in long-term care or geriatric settings is a plus
• Basic life support or CPR certification preferred
• Ability to pass facility health requirements (immunizations, TB screening) and background checks
• Strong communication skills and a caring, patient-centered attitude

Education

• High school diploma or GED
• Completion of an accredited GNA training program

Knowledge & Skills

• Comfortable with hands-on resident care and mobility assistance
• Familiarity with dementia and geriatric care principles
• Skilled in safe transfer techniques and fall prevention strategies
• Good documentation habits and basic charting experience
• Team player who communicates clearly with nurses, therapists, and families
• Awareness of infection control practices and resident safety standards
