Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality perioperative nursing care before, during, and after surgical procedures
• Prepare and maintain a sterile operating room environment and ensure accurate instrument counts
• Scrub, circulate, or assist as needed to support surgical teams and optimize patient outcomes
• Perform patient assessments and handoffs, advocating for patient safety and comfort
• Document care accurately and timely in the electronic health record (Meditech Expanse experience preferred)
• Collaborate with anesthesia, surgeons, and perioperative team members to coordinate care
• Respond to call-backs and emergent needs professionally and efficiently
• Participate in orientation and maintain required certifications and continuing competencies

Qualifications

• BSN required
• Massachusetts RN license in-hand required (facility will not pend license)
• CNOR certification required
• BLS (AHA) required and current
• Minimum 2 years current perioperative / Operating Room nursing experience
• Meditech Expanse experience strongly preferred
• Must have own reliable vehicle for this assignment
• Agency applicants: agency must provide Massachusetts Temporary Nursing Service Agency License (Nursing Pool) at time of submission
• Perm address must be included in profile; facility will NOT consider travelers who reside within 50 miles of the facility

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong perioperative and OR nursing knowledge including sterile technique and instrument handling
• Proficient in patient assessment, intraoperative monitoring, and perioperative documentation
• Comfort with Meditech Expanse or similar EHR documentation systems
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills in high-pressure surgical environments
• Ability to manage time, triage tasks, and prioritize patient safety
• Familiarity with operating room protocols, infection control, and surgical workflows
