Roles & Responsibilities

• Assess patients thoroughly to identify care needs and changes in condition
• Develop individualized care plans and coordinate with the interdisciplinary team
• Implement evidence-based nursing interventions and ensure safe, high-quality patient care
• Evaluate patient responses and update care plans accordingly
• Provide clinical leadership on your assigned shift and mentor the patient care team
• Monitor telemetry and respond promptly to cardiac and medical changes
• Document care, handoffs, and communications clearly and professionally
• Educate patients and families to support recovery, self-care, and smooth transitions

Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license required, Nursys verification must show Active Illinois/IL license
• Minimum 3 years of Med Surg experience required
• Current American Heart Association BLS required
• ACLS (AHA) required within 30 days of start
• Skills checklist current within 1 year, specific to Med Surg/Telemetry
• Two completed supervisory reference forms with dates employed
• Applicants within 50 miles of the facility are not eligible; applicants who were direct employees within the last 2 years are not eligible

Knowledge & Skills

• Strong Med Surg nursing and telemetry assessment skills
• Clinical leadership and team coordination on shift
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR documentation
• Telemetry monitoring and cardiac rhythm recognition
• Patient-centered care planning and implementation
• Effective communication with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams
