Roles & Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care and nursing assessments for the facility population with compassion and professionalism
• Administer medications and treatments accurately, following established policies and protocols
• Document patient status, treatments, and observations clearly and promptly in medical records
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate care and ensure continuity
• Follow infection control, safety, and security procedures specific to a correctional healthcare environment
• Support patient education and health promotion efforts in a respectful, patient-centered way
• Maintain reliable attendance and schedule commitment to ensure consistent coverage and patient safety

Qualifications

• Active Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license
• Previous experience in medical or clinical settings preferred; correctional healthcare experience is a plus
• Demonstrated good attendance and the ability to commit to the assignment with no time off during the coverage period
• Ability to complete the two-week training (Mon-Fri) prior to shift start
• Clear communication skills and the capacity to work well under supervision in a structured environment

Education

• Vocational Nursing diploma or equivalent and active LVN license

Knowledge & Skills

• Clinical skills in vital signs, assessments, and basic nursing procedures
• Medication administration and accurate documentation practices
• Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols
• Strong attention to detail and reliable organizational habits
• Ability to work effectively within a team and follow facility security guidelines
