Roles & Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and nursing assessments for the facility population with compassion and professionalism
- Administer medications and treatments accurately, following established policies and protocols
- Document patient status, treatments, and observations clearly and promptly in medical records
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to coordinate care and ensure continuity
- Follow infection control, safety, and security procedures specific to a correctional healthcare environment
- Support patient education and health promotion efforts in a respectful, patient-centered way
- Maintain reliable attendance and schedule commitment to ensure consistent coverage and patient safety
Qualifications
- Active Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) license
- Previous experience in medical or clinical settings preferred; correctional healthcare experience is a plus
- Demonstrated good attendance and the ability to commit to the assignment with no time off during the coverage period
- Ability to complete the two-week training (Mon-Fri) prior to shift start
- Clear communication skills and the capacity to work well under supervision in a structured environment
Education
- Vocational Nursing diploma or equivalent and active LVN license
Knowledge & Skills
- Clinical skills in vital signs, assessments, and basic nursing procedures
- Medication administration and accurate documentation practices
- Familiarity with infection control and safety protocols
- Strong attention to detail and reliable organizational habits
- Ability to work effectively within a team and follow facility security guidelines
